mimikyu

mimikyu is a Szczecin-based band that, in its own way, draws from various regions of the broadly defined rock and alternative scene. They debuted in 2023 with the album “nagrania roku bieżącego” on which the band’s founders Kacper Stefanowski(guitar) and Kajetan Płonka(vocals) interestingly translated cold wave and post-punk into their language. The next CD, already recorded with the full lineup, is definitely more mature material, both in terms of music and lyrics. On the one hand, it sounds very original, as evidenced by how difficult it is to find unambiguous reference points for mimikyu on the Polish scene. On the other hand, an attentive ear will catch that the band members certainly absorb the most interesting phenomena of the world scene such as Viagra Boys or Fontaines D.C.

On mimikyu’s recently released second album, “Grymas,” one will hear punk ferocity in “Mętlik”, drum’n’bass fling in “Nie Ma Lekko”, great hit single “Winny” and other fantastic songs.
