Ursynów District Cultural Center – DOKU (Poland)

The Polish partner of the project, Ursynów District Cultural Center – DOKU(https://dokursynow.pl/), has extensive experience in organizing successful cultural events, including, notably, two nation-wide festivals. Established 6 years ago, the All-Poland Festival of Unruly Theatres “Ursynów Galimatias” is a several-day review of amateur theatres from all over Poland. The jury, composed of both professionals and representatives of the amateur artistic community, evaluates and qualifies theaters from among the approximately 50 entries submitted each year and awards prizes in about 10 categories. The second noteworthy festival organized by DOKU, the Capitol Comedy Festival, is one of the last cabaret-type events in Poland and the only one currently in the Mazovia region that provides an opportunity for independent comedians and amateur satirical and cabaret groups to present their work.

The DOKU is also active in the field of live music, focusing, whenever possible, on international cooperation. Recently, it organized a concert on the occasion of Ukrainian Independence Day, which took place on the premises of the institution. The rock and folk band Enej, comprising members with Ukrainian roots, and the Ukrainian band Luiku, which plays Balkan-Gypsy-Ukrainian music, performed on stage. DOKU also cooperates in organizing concerts with the legendary music club in Warsaw, Progresja, with which it has invited many artists from around the world to Poland.

The DOKU team involved in East European Rock Alliance project has played also key roles in organizing major events in Poland, handling aspects such as production, contracts management, and artist booking for Pol’and’Rock, one of the biggest music festivals in the world, with a record aggregate attendance of 750,000 in 2019 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pol%27and%27Rock_Festival). Additionally, they have been involved in the organization of WOŚP (Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity Foundation) – Grand Finale, the biggest music charity event in Poland, which has reached its 32nd edition, collecting millions of euros annually for Polish hospitals (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Orchestra_of_Christmas_Charity).
